What’s more, the laid-back ex-cop wants to pick up where they left off.

Lisa has been on Gray’s mind every day since that mind-blowing encounter. He was reeling from a tragedy in the line of duty, and their connection was instant and intense. Still is. Lori Foster at her finiest!
By CINDY F.
Lori Foster has been one of my top favorite authors for over a decade, and this Buckhorn series is part of the reason why. When I first came across the stories of Sawyer, Morgan, Gabe, Jorden, and then shortly afterwards, Casey...I was absolutely hooked. Then came the Winston Brothers series and I couldn't seem to get enough. I immediately began to scour all the book stores around town, as well as the internet. I can honestly say now; that I have now bought everything she ever wrote, and I have never, ever been disappointed so far. I have loved every single series she's written, even though they are so very different from one another.

So you can just imagine how excited I was when I saw this book hit the stands. Let me tell you; I snapped it up so quickly it would have made your head spin. When I bought this I wasn't even aware that this is really two short stories, instead of just one. That made me even happier than you'll ever know. ;)

It was sort of exciting to back to Buckhorn, again. We not only get to revisit the four brothers, but we get to see what's happening in their now grown-up children's lives, too. After living wild & mischievous lives when they were all younger, I think it's rather funny to watch them squirm now when it comes to there own children. lol! Of course it's not quite so bad when it comes to the boys, but lookout when the girls start pairing off. That in itself; should be very interesting to see how they handle that, especially for Sawyer.

I enjoyed both of these stories very much. They were both very heart-warming, and sort of funny at the same time.

I can't wait to read more now that I've had a little visit back to Buckhorn, I can't wait to read more. Keep them coming, Lori....and I'll keep buying and reading them.

Sweet, sexy and satisfying romance
By DiDi - Guilty Pleasures BR
**The e-copy of A Buckhorn Summer also includes the novella Back To Buckhorn that was released last year.

I'll admit to being a very, very big lover of Lori Foster's original Buckhorn series so getting to see the brother's children grow up and fall in love is kind of a dream come true. One thing hasn't changed from generation to generation when this family falls, they fall hard and fast and even though Lisa Sommerville isn't blood she proves the whole nurture over nature theory once and for all. A woman at a crossroad in her life, a man who has taken a new path in his life, a chance meeting and a surprising reunion made A Buckhorn Summer a perfect summer romance and then some.

I kind of have to smile when I think back to when we first met Lisa all those years ago and find it fascinating that despite growing up loved and adored she still feels like she doesn't "fit" with the perfection that is her adoptive family. It is nothing they've said or done it is simply how she feels and though she's moved away and has a very successful career she's burned out and back home in Buckhorn for an extended vacation but she can't seem to forget the man she spent one crazy yet amazing night with in Chicago the month before, the night that made her begin to question everything in her life.

Gray Neely can't believe his luck when his mystery woman comes in to his newly acquired business. A day hasn't gone by in the last month that he hasn't thought of her but not knowing her name or anything about her he had no way to find her and having her close by is like a dream come true only he has to convince her that they weren't a mistake.

I can't help it; I'm a sucker for a one night stand that turns into more romance especially when they know nothing about each other. I love the way they were caught off guard when they meet again, how Gray tunes into the fact that Lisa isn't ready to admit they know one another to her nosey brother and cousin and the way he lets her know he wants to pick right back up where they left off when she's ready. Gray is one of those great heroes; he knows what and who he wants, he's willing to spend the time to get it for good and he understands that she needs to make the decision about her life without pressure from him. He's there for support and to show that no matter what he'll stand behind her and be waiting but he won't make her life more stressful than it already is. Lisa was a little harder to read and even at the end I felt like we didn't see all of her that she was still holding back. I was surprised that she felt like she didn't truly belong in the family but loved she had no problem calling any of her uncle's or cousin's if she needed help. I really would have liked to know more about her motivation for leaving and staying away from Buckhorn for so long and honestly would have loved to see her have a nice heart to heart with her Mom and Jordan about her life. I loved every minute of Gray and Lisa getting to know one another especially how despite her reluctance to open up and share through observation he began to know and understand her. The intimate times were spontaneous, sexy and playful something they both needed in their lives.

Yes these two meet and fall in love quickly but it just seemed right for them and it is how every person in this family has done from the start. While the romance between Gray and Lisa was front and center there was a little suspense angle that added some danger to this story and also gave all the men in the family a reason to be around and meddle and I'll just say that the original brothers are worse gossips than most women which just makes me love them all the more. In A Buckhorn Summer author Lori Foster gives us yet another sweet, sexy and satisfying romance with the family we love and simply can't let go.

A Buckhorn Summer
By debbiejo
These are the types of stories Lori Foster excels at writing. Pure romance with a hint of suspense thrown in for your pleasure. The Buckhorn series is one of my favorites and with this short novella she doesn't disappoint me. This one is about Lisa, Jordan's stepdaughter. Jordan was one of the four original brothers that started it all. He married Georgia, who already had Lisa and Adam.

When Lisa arrives back in Buckhorn after spending awhile away, busy traveling as a business troubleshooter, she's trying to figure out what to do with herself. She's stressed out, worn out, and her health is beginning to suffer due to all her hard work. And lately her thoughts have been consumed by the one-night stand she'd had with a handsome stranger. That was totally unlike her. They hadn't even exchanged names, yet she couldn't get him out of her mind. Being with him felt so right and she'd actually been at peace for the first time in a long time. Knowing she needed to take a break, she can't think of any better place than her old stomping ground.

Gray Neeley, a former cop, needed a fresh start after being wounded in the line of duty, his partner killed. Feeling lost after his friend's funeral, he hooks up with a beautiful stranger. They spend one night together but during that time she makes him feel alive again, gives him a sense of direction. He can't believe it when he wakes up and she's gone. Moving forward with his life, he finds an ad for a marina that's for sale and ends up buying it, never dreaming his decision will lead him right back into the arms of his beautiful stranger.

A wonderful love story with wonderful characters. It's the reason I love paying a return visit to Buckhorn. My only complaint, it wasn't long enough. I wish the author would write another full-length novel set in my favorite small town!
