good yarn poor structure.

Enjoyed the book as the story is captivating. It involves a "Wonder Wooman" who predictably is beautiful, blonde (do blonds have more fun?)' smart, vulnerable and the object of worship by good looking males. Though she bobs along the river of history, she finds herself in the middle of the most important events of the 20th Century. The yarn is good, the dialog is machine gun excellent but it is so predictable! The novel has a flaws in it's selection of Guillermo as the mechanism by which the story is revealed. Poor choice! Amelia and her tribulations could have been revealed in some other more effective and credible fashion. Julia Navarro is no Vargas Llosa or Garcia Márquez, too bad for us. Frankly, she needed a good editor. A good "beach read" but it will not survive as Literature. Would I read it again, maybe...

Dime quien soy

Una novela larga pero no tediosa, aunque la acción es limitada a los brincos por el mundo y por la vida de Amelia Garayoa y de su biznieto. El personaje de ella no me gusto mucho, una perfecta idiota que no hizo nada mas que envolverse en política, guerra, tomar horribles decisiones, sufrir y para colmo abandona un hijo, una familia y termina ayudando a cuanto extraño no tiene que ayudar. Lo que si me gusto es el contexto histórico real donde se desarrolla la historia, muy bien escrito por la autora. También me gusto entender que al final no se trataba de saber quien era Guillermo ni su familia, sino Amelia. Pero aún así quien eres ? después de vivir así. Esto queda para que lo conteste el lector. Yo ya di un pequeño resumen de mi análisis. Otro aspecto del libro es que toda la historia es contada por otras personas, con diálogos y hechos que no necesariamente presenciaron. Esta libertad literaria de la autora se la voy a perdonar pues creo que de otra manera no hubiese podido hacer la novela tan detallada.

El libro me ha resultado super soporífero hasta el punto que no lo he podido terminar (empecé saltándome páginas pero ni aún así conseguí llegar al final. Lo compré arrastrada por el diálogo de las primeras páginas entre el sobrino y la tia, algo bastante dinamico a lo largo de la novela, pero que no basta (ni muchísimo menos) para construir una historia decente. Esta novela no deja de ser un engañabobos en el que los protagonistas no son más que títeres ilustrando la guerra civil española, la segunda guerra mundial el comunismo, fascismo y demas dramas politicos del siglo XX. Todo muy pretencioso lo que a algunos (demasiados) quiza les lleve a pensar que están ante un clásico cuando en realidad es una estafa (si al menos costara un par de dólares en kindle, pero no, son casi diez) ...¡Y pensar que por solo 99 centavos compre a Jane Eyre, de la Bronte! eso si que es un novelon en mayúsculas ¿Julia Navarro? Nunca más, bueno si me regalan algun otro ejemplar suyo, probaré a leerlo por si la he juzgado mal en esta primera obra que tengo de ella.
